Guildford Gay Couple Lodge Human Rights Case

pexels-photo-534204.jpegGuildford Gay couple Mohammed Rehan and Jakub Nowak are to take the UK government to the European Court of Human Rights in order to guarantee their right to stay in their adopted country as a couple after March 2019.

Rehan, a politics teacher who arrived as a refugee from Middle-Eastern persecution against LGBT people, and Nowak, a Polish builder, met at a Labour run Haringey Council seminar on rehabilitation of offenders into the community three years ago.  They married in July 2016 after a whirlwind romance.  Both are very concerned at the status of their children, who will be born to a surrogate mother in April.

The vegan pair, who intend to raise the twin boy and girl (already named Marx and Corbina) in a non-gender specific household, are heavily involved in their local ‘Cyclists4Remain in the EU’ group.  They have also been involved in organising multicultural ‘Winterfest’ celebrations in December and ‘Springfest’ celebrations for the last two years, aiming to bring together their diverse local community.  Currently, they are planning a ‘White Poppy’ tribute parade this coming November in the town, in remembrance of all the victims of the wars against British imperialism.

The Millennials, both university educated, hope that their fight will be successful for all immigrant LGBT couples in the UK who are worried about their status in the UK if Brexit proceeds next year.
